RECITING QURAN WITHOUT MOVING LIPS.
Question: One of my friends doesn’t even move his lips when reciting Surah Fatiha in Nafl Salaat. When asked, he said that he recites it in his mind. So, what should we do, recite with movement of our lips or without?

Answer: The minimum level of Qiraat Sirri i.e. reciting to oneself means that the person reciting must be able to hear his/her own voice and the words must be pronounced properly. The words can be pronounced properly only when the lips are moved. As mentioned in Durre Mukhtar, Vol.1, Pg. No. 395 and in Fatawa A’alamgiri, Vol. 1, Pg. No. 69.

It is mentioned in Hadith that when the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) would recite to Himself in Salaat, His blessed jaws would move. There is a Hadith in Sahih Bukhari:

Translation: It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abu Ma’amar (May Allah be well pleased with him): I asked Hadhrat Khabbab bin Arat (May Allah be well pleased with him): Did the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) recite the Holy Quran in Zuhr and ‘Asr Salaat? He said: Yes. I asked: How did you get to know the recitation of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)? He said: It would be clear from the movement of His jaws. Obviously His beard would not move without movement of His lips. (Sahih Bukhari, Kitaab Ul Adhaan, Hadith No. 761)

This is also mentioned in Haashiya Hidaaya, Kitaab Us Salaat, Vol. 1, Pg. No. 117.

It is clear from the aforementioned Hadith and the clarifications of the jurists that when reciting to oneself one should pronounce the words properly with movement of lips. One should recite in such a low voice that the recitation should be clearly audible to oneself. Otherwise, the article of recitation will remain unfulfilled and the Salaat will have to be reoffered.

And Allah Most High knows best.

A: Salah must be offered as described in Quran and Sunnah which consists of various obligatory and sunnah actions like Takbeer-e-Tehreemah, Qiyam, Qirat, Ruk'u, Sijda etc. Any one who claims that Salah can be offered in seconds by heart without performing these action is a kafir and out of fold of Islam.

Question 4: Assalam o Alaikum. We have only one Ahlus Sunnah masjid in our city which is 3 Kms from my place. Is it allowed for me to pray in near by non Ahlus Sunnah masjid?
A: You should pray your daily prayers at home. In case of Juma and Eidain prayers, if you are not sure that deviance of non-Ahlus Sunnah Imam of that masjid is such that it has reached the Kuf'r, then you are allowed to pray behind him only these two, Jumu'ah and Eidain Salah.

Masjid of non Ahlus Sunnah is not a masjid but just a room basically. You may go and pray salah indivisually but the reward of praying in a masjid will not be gained.

In first scenario, it is allowed to pray behind such an Imam.

Question 7: If someone does only one sijda and forgets to do second one in a rakah, weather Sijda-e-Sahw will suffice or does he need to repeat the Salah?
A: Two sijda are fard in every rakah. Hence if someone misses one then his Salah become invalid and will have to repeat the complete salah and Sijda-e-Sahw will not suffice.
Sijda-e-Sahw is allowed only when one misses a wajib by mistake and not on missing fard acts of salah.

A: It is obligatory to listen to Jumah khutba. Praying salah, reciting quran and zikr-o-Azkaar are prohibited during this time. Hence it is wajib upon you to listen to Khutbah even if you have come late to the masjid.
After you finish jumah, offer 4 rakahs of Sunnah and then offer the first 4 Sunnah rakahs which were missed before juma.

Question 30: People in Ahlus Sunnah masjids move a bit from right from Qibla and recite Salat-o-Salam. Is necessary to turn like?
A: It is a practice of Ahlus Sunnah to face towards Madinah munawwarah and recite Salam-o-Salam on our Beloved Prophet.
In Indian sub continent the direction of Makkah and Madinah is around 12-18 degree towards north so basically both the sacred cities are in the same direction so if someone doesn't turn then also it is fine. The advantage of turning right from Qibla is that people who come late or who are behind doesn't think that people at front are praying.
